Custom Raspberry Macarons created by The Wild Thyme Company Pastry Team
We’re not trying to toot our own horn but, starting with a catering in mind, it can be beneficial.
Some of your first decisions as a newly engaged couple will probably be all about your wedding. Our team is here to help guide you through your curiosities (and the things you’re most anxious about) about weddings.
From setting priorities to some of our pro tips, this guided series is here as a resource to get you to ‘I do!’
If you’re thinking of where to start, how to start, and getting into the wedding mindset, starting to think about the food for your wedding can actually serve as a great starting point.
Believe it or not, when you think about what happens on your wedding day- one of the first things people think about is when they want to have their reception or what they want to eat. Catering is a great baseline to think about when you’re thinking about timing, how the day will flow, and expectations for you and your guests. When we serve our food to you and your guests, we want you to have the best possible bite. A caterer heavily relies on a timeline and outline of how you expect the day to flow- especially if there’s any special details that are important.
Starting with a caterer can also help when it comes to helping coordinate with your vendors. Our relationship with vendors is a a lot closer than you may think- in addition to guests, we can also provide vendor meals. Food is our love language and one of the best ways we’ve been able to create our connections within the local event industry. Through our connections, we can help you coordinate and find niche vendors that can bring exactly what you’re envisioning to life.
Plus- we think that starting with food truly is just fun!
Setting Priorities
The first decision in starting your wedding planning journey.
In a perfect world, the day you become engaged, a fairy godmother gets assigned to you and appears at your doorstep to make your dream wedding magically happen. You hand over everything on your wedding wish list from countless hours of scrolling through Pinterest, social media, and countless other forms of wedding inspiration & ideas and POOF! It happens! But that’s not exactly how it all works out- sorry. A lot of the magic that happens on that day honestly comes from the collaborative relationship between the couple and their vendors. As San Diego’s Best Caterer, we’ve curated our 20 years of event experience into a guide to help newly engaged couples with their wedding planning.
Before you continue to scroll for more, you and your partner should work together and set your priorities. Setting the priorities of your wedding is the first decision with starting your wedding planning journey. There’s a lot to consider about a wedding such as:
Budget
Venue + Location
Guest List + Guest Count
Food/ Menu/ Bar Servicfes
Date
Aesthetic (vibes, theme, color palette, etc.)
Wedding Attire + Guest Dress Code
Photographer + Videographer (maybe even a content creator)
And so much more!
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint.
Trust us- we get it. But there’s no need to rush, take it at YOUR pace.
The overall wedding planning experience can be extremely overwhelming for many couples- trust us, we know. You and your significant other should work through your planning together, at your pace. There’s absolutely no need to make fast decisions (unless it’s absolutely the most important priority you can both agree on).
If you find yourself feeling like you’re stuck, have decision paralysis, or meh, this might be a good sign to take a breath and pause. When you’re ready to start again, start with the next part of the planning that gets your excited. While it can be overwhelming, we also believe that it should be a fun and positive experience to share together as a couple.
